PT Engineering (as a subconsultant to Three Oaks Engineering, Inc.) developed a traffic safety analysis for U-4739; SR 3556 (Amboy Road/Meadow Road) improvements from I-240 to US 25 (Biltmore Avenue) in Buncombe County. The 5-year crash analysis was summarized with breakdowns of crash types as well as crash rate comparisons of the study sections to the statewide crash rates of similar route types. The locations of pedestrian and bicycle crashes were reported in order to identify if there were pedestrian safety concerns along the corridor. The critical crash rates for the segment were also calculated to determine if the study crash rates exceeded the critical crash rates.
